At Photos by LJK in West Hartford, we are thrilled to highlight these trailblazers in our “Celebrating 31 Women in March” movement—a tribute to women’s contributions, resilience, and individuality. Mary Ann: Mary Ann Francis.

Photos by LJK: Beautiful name! Now, tell me about the woman—or women—who inspire you the most.

Mary Ann: I can’t pick just one because there’s a collective of women who inspire me at this moment in my life. Each one brings out a different part of who I am.

• My mother is my life influencer—her strength, wisdom, and love shaped me.
• My sisters are always there, no matter what. Their support is unwavering.
• Then, there’s a group of incredible women who inspire me professionally and personally. What started as work relationships grew into a bond that empowers me in ways I never expected.

No matter what direction life takes me, these women make every step feel empowered.

Photos by LJK: That’s so beautiful—having a tribe of women who pour into you is priceless. Now, if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Mary Ann: Don’t be afraid to trust yourself. Everything will align.

Mary Ann: A Spanish station would be my go-to. There’s nothing like reconnecting with my roots and letting the passion of each song take over. That feeling? It’s pure empowerment.

Photos by LJK: I love that! Music has a way of fueling the soul. What about outside of work—what’s something that brings you joy?

Mary Ann: Just being creative—whether it’s working on a craft project, planning an event, or anything that lets my creativity flow. That’s where I find joy.

Photos by LJK: Creativity fuels the best parts of us! Now, if you had to describe yourself in just one word, what would it be?

Mary Ann: Unapologetic.

Mary Ann: Because nothing can stop me from living the life I desire. I live unapologetically, making decisions based on what feels good to me and what’s best for my family—without seeking approval.

Mary Ann: With a glass of champagne with my husband, reflecting on the moment and truly taking it in.

Mary Ann: Strength is being authentic and owning it. There’s nothing like being who you truly are—without worrying about what others think or trying to fit into someone else’s mold.

I embody strength by listening to my most vulnerable parts and understanding the core of who I am. When you know and accept yourself fully, no one can take that power away from you.

Mary Ann: I need more time to think about that one. There’s so much that needs change.

Mary Ann: Being an entrepreneur and owning my own business. It has pushed me to step into a confidence I didn’t even know I had.
