At Photos by LJK, we celebrate women who turn pain into power, build lasting legacies, and inspire others through faith and resilience. Today, we’re sitting down with Lakisha Roberts, a woman who leads with strength, purpose, and a commitment to empowering future generations. Let’s dive into her journey of perseverance, faith, and impact.
Lakisha: Lakisha Roberts.
Lakisha: My mother continues to be my greatest inspiration, even though she’s no longer physically here with me. She faced life’s toughest moments with unwavering resilience, a heart full of faith, and a smile that could light up any room.
Her ability to trust God through every storm and persevere with grace taught me the true meaning of strength. Whenever life feels heavy, I think of her courage, joy, and unshakable faith—and I’m reminded to keep pushing forward.
She inspires me every day to be better, trust God more, and smile through it all. Her legacy lives on in me, and for that, I am forever grateful.
Lakisha: If I could speak to my younger self, I’d tell her this:
“You matter. Your voice matters. Don’t let fear or shame silence you. Speak up for yourself, advocate for your needs, and know that it’s okay to ask for help. The pain you’ve endured doesn’t define who you are or who you’ll become—it’s simply part of your story, not the whole of it. You are stronger than you realize, and the world needs the light you carry, even if it feels dim right now. Keep believing in yourself, even when it’s hard, because one day, you’ll look back and be proud of how far you’ve come.”
Lakisha: My go-to station would be Trap Motivation on Spotify.
Lakisha: Spending quality time with my family or traveling brings me so much joy outside of work.
Lakisha: Resilient.
Lakisha: It captures my strength, faith, and ability to overcome challenges while inspiring others and leaving a legacy.
Lakisha: I celebrate my wins by documenting them as a way to thank God for all He has done. I also buy myself something nice as a way to remember why and where I got the gift from—a reminder of God’s blessings.
Lakisha: To me, strength means resilience, faith, and purpose—facing challenges head-on, staying rooted in God, and turning adversity into opportunity.
I embody strength by persevering, advocating for myself and others, and carrying on with grace and determination—just like my mother did.
Lakisha: If I could change one thing for women, it would be to empower them to build generational wealth and leave a legacy. I want women, especially in the Black community, to overcome limiting beliefs, advocate for themselves, and embrace financial literacy and resilience so they can create a lasting impact for future generations.
Lakisha: I’m proud of pushing through the pain of my childhood trauma. It’s shaped who I am today and fuels my drive to empower others, especially women, to overcome their past and build a lasting legacy.
Lakisha: “Build Your Legacy. Empower Your Future.”
