At Photos by LJK, we celebrate women who conquer obstacles, break barriers, and claim their space unapologetically. Today, we’re sitting down with Katrice Peters, a powerhouse who is not only shaping the future of the world’s largest data centers but also carrying the legacy of resilience and strength passed down by her mother. Let’s dive into her story of courage, perseverance, and power.
Katrice: Katrice Peters.
Katrice: Maxie Ann McAlpin—my late mother. She enlisted in the United States Army as a young woman, creating a better life for herself while raising a daughter as a single parent. She served for 25 years, retired, and then continued her work with the Corps of Engineers.
She endured hardships that the average human being couldn’t handle. She has earned her wings in heaven, but she will forever wear that superwoman cape in my eyes.
Katrice: Don’t be afraid. Take the leaps and bounds—you may fall, but failure is the path paved to success.
Katrice: Anything by Meg Thee Stallion—because confidence is key!
Katrice: Ehhhhh… give me a moment.
Katrice: Conquer.
Katrice: When depression from my mom’s passing tried to take me… when heart failure tried to take my husband… God gave me what I needed to conquer those demons.
Katrice: Ehhhh… give me a moment.
Katrice: Strength means showing up as your authentic self. It isn’t easy showing up in melanated skin, locs, and thighs… in a white, male-dominated industry.
It takes strength to push past the comments, the stares, and the often blatant disrespect. But I show up anyway, and I don’t shrink for anyone.
Katrice: No pay differences just because I am a woman.
Katrice: I am a Senior Construction Project Manager for one of the largest data centers in the world. I’m not just a face to look at or a realtor opening doors. I’m at the forefront of how the world operates.
Katrice: “Chin up, baby girl! The world is yours for the taking!”
