A Conversation with the Resilient & Wise Chaka Davis

At Photos by LJK, we believe in celebrating women who embody strength, perseverance, and grace. Today, we’re sitting down with Chaka Davis, a woman who has faced setbacks but continues to rise—stronger, wiser, and more determined. Let’s dive into her inspiring journey!

Photos by LJK: What’s your full name?

Chaka: Chaka Davis.

Photos by LJK: Who is the woman that inspires you the most?

Chaka: It was my grandmother, Ada. She handled business, she was funny, loving, nurturing, and the most amazing cook. She was everybody’s favorite. Her style and grace were something to admire.

Photos by LJK: She sounds like a true queen! If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Chaka: Don’t rush my time. Rest in the seasons of my life, enjoy the little moments, and trust the process of development.

Photos by LJK: That’s a lesson we all need. What’s your go-to song or station when you need to feel empowered?

Chaka: Motivational gospel playlist.

Photos by LJK: Gospel music always hits the soul! What’s a passion or hobby that brings you joy outside of work?

Chaka: Reading or researching.

Photos by LJK: Love that! If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Chaka: Resilient.

Photos by LJK: Why did you choose that word?

Chaka: Because of recent setbacks I’ve experienced. I’ve been knocked down completely and should be out, but there’s something in me that allows me to get up and try one more day.

Photos by LJK: That is the definition of resilience! How do you celebrate your wins, big or small?

Chaka: I celebrate my wins with my circle of friends and family—a time where we laugh, reminisce, show love, and encourage one another.

Photos by LJK: That sounds like the perfect celebration! What does strength mean to you, and how do you embody it?

Chaka: Strength means the ability to persevere through adversity—mentally or physically. Using that inner self to keep going through it all.

Photos by LJK: That inner strength is everything. If you could make one change in the world for women, what would it be?

Chaka: Equality. To have complete gender equality.

Photos by LJK: Yes! What’s one accomplishment you’re really proud of?

Chaka: Furthering my education—graduating from college recently.

Chaka: Choose you more each day.
